Low Carb Eating is Not a Diet


With so many fad diets around, and so many celebrities endorsing them, how is someone who desperately needs to lose weight supposed to choose the right one? Even when these diets work temporarily, usually by using an unsafe calorie restriction which plays havoc with our health, or eliminating fat, we are doomed to regain the weight. The best favor we can do for ourselves, is to relearn how to eat low carb. Then maybe someday we can eliminate the word diet from our vocabulary. Diabetics have to eat low carb to keep insulin levels even. The same is true for the rest of us. When we reduce sugary and starchy foods, such as white flour, rice, and sugars from our meals, and begin adding in fresh, low glycemic vegetables and berries, as well as saturated fats like butter and cream, and monounsaturated fats such as nuts and olive oil, we are balancing the insulin in our blood and effectively reducing our risk of future diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and premature aging.

It is a fact, the US has the fattest citizens in the world. Because of our Western diet of sugar loaded foods, we are also dying at a much earlier age than our own grandparents. This is because they ate fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, and sugary desserts only for special occasions. Sugar laden cereal and toaster pastries are the morning wake up call for most schoolchildren these days, just as that cheese danish or doughnut is for many adults. Eating a high carb diet will place you in an early grave. In a study done in 2009, Dr. Michael Shecter, Tel Aviv and the Heart Institute of Sheba Medical Center, obtained the joint cooperation of the Endocrinology department and did a study on how high glycemic foods affected brachial arteries. What he found was that these foods caused a distention of the brachial arteries. If distended for too long, a heart attack can ensue quite suddenly. Eating right as a way of life is nothing new. People have been eating low carb foods since the beginning of time. It's not a diet, but a lifelong plan for a healthy, productive, and energetic life. Because so many individuals are addicted to sugar and bread, there are ways to overcome that addiction.
